May 28: Question of the week

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

eminem So, I’ve been reading a lot about Eminem in the news lately. He’s got a new hit on the charts. He’s been pretty succesful, maybe he wants to settle down, start a family. So, my question is: what if Eminem got married? What music would be playing at his ceremony? What about during the reception? Would there be any gun play at the wedding?

May 27: How to have a “Green” wedding

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

dz0032582-150x1502So NewsDay has a feature about so-called environmentally friendly weddings.  The writer, Linday Daily, talks about how she is going to use a string quartet for her wedding ceremony, because “live bands us a lot of electricity”.  Ha ha, that is the best excuse for using a DJ (instead of cheesy wedding band) I have ever heard. It’s kind of neat that people can make up environmental excuses for almost any choice nowadays.

May 20: Top 10 Wedding Songs

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

knotSo, the wedding website theknot.com has a list of the top 10 wedding songs for 2009.

http://wedding.theknot.com/wedding-planning/wedding-music-ideas/articles/top-10-wedding-songs-for-2009.aspx

The article is an interesting read but I would like to know what makes these songs the “top” 10.   The article does not discuss how this list was compiled - did the author just pull these songs out of the air?

We here at findweddingsongs believe that articles like this are useful guides for planning a wedding, but it does encourage originality.   Please do get ideas from websites like TheKnot, but please don’t follow the herd mentality.

We hope that you have a memorable and original wedding.

May 19: Ciao from Roma Italie!

theserenadeToday, the Wedding Advisor continues our travels through beautiful Italy.  Being here sure gives me lots of ideas about how romantic a wedding can be.  Here, it is quite common to see bridal parties parading down the streets.  Another common sight is to see a groom serendading the bride.  For more Italian wedding customs, read the excellent article at  http://blog.chateauandvillaweddings.com/italy/wedding-customs-and-traditions-of-italy

Speaking of serenading, what song would you like to hear if you were being serenaded?

So, am I aging myself or does anyone else remember when Rachel Hunter married Rod Stewart 15 years ago? The then 21-year old Kiwi bombshell shocked the world for the age difference between her and Rod Stewart, who was old even back then. even for celebrity wedding standards. LOL!

So, Rachel Hunter is getting married to L.A. Kings hockey sensation Jarret Stoll. Any chance they will be playing Rod Stewart songs at weddings? Which ones would you play?

Vegas Baby, Vegas!

This is totally money. I just heard on the wire that Vince Vaughn is engaged to Kyla Weber, a Canadian realtor. The 38-year old start of such movies as Swingers, Wedding Crashers, and the Breakup has never been married before.

Let’s hope that this love store does not become another case of life imitating art.

Way to go, Vince!

By the way: If you were dj’ing Vince Vaughn’s wedding, what music would you play?

At Last, Maybe It's Time to Move On.

At Last, Maybe It's Time to Move On.

Does anyone really need to hear Etta Jame’s At Last? What about the The Chicken Dance or The Macaranea. I say it’s time to bury these songs and start a new wedding song movement. What do you think?
